2001 Volkswagen Beetle check engine light won't go out

My 2001 VW Beetle check engine light was on. Codes read O2 sensor so I replaced both and light went out. I drove 10 miles and light returned, but code reader says " nothing found". I unhooked battery cable to reset light, but it came back on after a few miles again. I need it out for inspection. What can I do to get it to reset and stay off?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I would get a code erase done using a VW factory scanner, a generic scanner may not be able to do the complete erase, try this.
