I recently brought my car to a shop because of an oil problem. After running a diagnostic and looking over the engine, the mechanic reported that I needed to replace the Crankshaft. He quoted me about $1000 for the work. Is this reasonable? Is this even worth the fix?

Hi there, this does not add up, I would want to know what is the exact problem he is fixing, if oil leaks a crank will not be the issue, if oil pressure problem are the cause bearings or the oil pump / relief valve will be the main problem and at worst a crank re grind, but even the price sounds a bit iffy, as the crank and all the labour would be some what more expensive, I would be getting a second opinion, and I would like to know the exact problem you have with the engine.
