1998 Volkswagen Beetle shifting problem

After an hour stop and go traffic transmission not able to shift from 1st gear into second anymore. Parking the car for 2-3h and driving again the transmission works again.
What could be the problem? How much does it cost to fix?

Hi there,

You will need to get this transmission serviced and get a test and report from a trans specialist as there will have to be a few hands on test done to lock this problem down, you can go get a scan as there may be an electrical fault that has set a code in the ECU.
