My vehicle shut off in traffic. I started it and it started and drove straight to the mechanic.

He did a diagnostic and nothing showed up and wrong.

I do tune up every four months.

Please advise.

Welcome to right turn signal or brake to light up

Is the engine running properly now? Has this happened again?

As far as shutting down, it may be something as simple as dirt in the fuel, a dirty throttle body, and many other things. Since the engine light didn't come on, it may not happen again. However, here are a few links you may find helpful:

You may want to service the throttle body:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/throttle-actuator-service

Here is a link that discusses what can cause an engine to stall at idle:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/stall-at-idle

Let me know if this helps. If it only happened once, I wouldn't be overly concerned at this point. However, if it continues, then we have to determine the cause.

Take care,
Joe

Hi I have an additional question.

My mechanic suggested to check my alarm system and the GPS system.

If there is a problem can that cause the vehicle to shut off whilst driving in traffic?

When the vehicle is driven, no. If that would happen, the manufacturer would be getting sued all the time for accidents when the system failed.

Hmm, the mechanic did the diagnostic test and nothing showed as defective. So he advised to check service the alarm which was not installed by the manufacturer.

Welcome back:

I didn't realize it was an aftermarket alarm. With something like that, anything is possible. I would recommend having it checked by the people who installed it. I will say that if it isn't acting up, most likely they won't find a problem. I have no idea what type or brand was installed and even if I did, I wouldn't have the wiring schematic specific to it. Have you had any additional issues since it happened the first time?

Let me know.

Hi, thanks again.

I haven't had the vehicle shut off since and is scheduled to check the alarm on Wednesday next week. The alarm is a Viper.

Tune up will be done after.

Question, apart from change of oil, filters and I am changing brakes shoes what else should the mechanic service?

Is there any such thing as an overall maintenance?

Welcome back:

What I always recommend is to follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. Do you still have the one for this vehicle? If not, go to Google. Type in 2007 Nissan Bluebird maintenance schedule, and it will bring up a PDF file which includes everything. I would follow the schedule.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Welcome back:

That is a good one. Honestly, that is something you would most likely find online in a PDF file, similar to the maintenance one. The shop manuals we use are specific to repairs.

I wish I could help with that one, but I don't have a specific link, owners manual, and I can't read Japanese either. LOL Check to see if you can find a PDF file online listing operating instructions manual.

Let me know if you find one. Others may end up with the same issues and your answer will help.

Take care,
Joe

Hi me again

I serviced my car cleaned the trottle change oil and air filter. Serviced the alarm and whilst driving when I pressed the x the car seem to slightly loose power for a few seconds. It doesn't happen all the time. My mechanic is not picking up anything on the diagnostic tests.

My question would it be something with the fuel pump
