Steering problem
2004 Vauxhall s Engine Size unknown Front Wheel Drive Manual 37000 miles

could anyone please help? The steering on my vauxhall zafira has become sloppy. I am loath to take it to the garage so they can charge me ££££££ to tighten a nut. (If this is indeed the prob)
does anyone know if this could be the problem and if so, how to get into the steering colum and to said nut in order to tighten. Many thanks.

Hi there,

The steering will have to be inspected as there are a number of points that can affect the steering response. Unfortunately your car is not on the data base we use for information (American), and as I am I Australia I have not much info on it either. I have just done a quick web search. Is your car a also known as a vauxhall corsa B with electric steering pump or box? As I think both have the same steering system if so, there is a known fault with these steering units where the steering gets very sloppy in one direction. A quick web search finds a change over steering unit retail price 175. Pounds, sorry I don't have the squiggly thing. Not sure as to labour to fit unit. If this sound like your problem, then you have some idea as to what you are up for. Good luck. Please let me know how you get on.
