can i renew the rubber boot on the nearside inner joint without taking the drive shaft off the car

no you dont have to, but it makes it 10000 times easier then doing it on the car, easier on a work bench wher eyou can stand up and be comfortable in your work other then hunched over trying to work on it on the car.
