Well my van won't start unless both the park and drive indicators are both lit up on my dashboard. Now the drive light won't come on and my van won't start. Sometimes if I cycle through the gears a few times the drive indicator will light back up and it will then start in park or neutral. Please help

Hello,

This sounds like you have a problem with your neutral safety switch. This is the switch that will only allow your vehicle to start in neutral or park. In the diagrams down below I have included diagrams, diagnostic testing, and step by step instructions for the removal and installation for the neutral safety switch for you vehicle. Please go through the guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Would this make it to were two gear positions have to be lit up at the same time for it to start? And then when the drive indicator does come back on you can hear something electrical in the dash. Sounds like it's shorting out.

Hello again,

Yes it would. In the diagrams down below I have included a description of the Neutral Safety Shift/Transmission Selector or PRNDL, pronounced "Prindle" selector. Please go through this and then get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex
