Van was parked at home went to go somewhere and it would not go in any gear

Van will not go in any gear, have had no problems before this, no problems going in gear or driving fluid looks ok, cable is working at trans from steering wheel shifter also reverse lights come on when shifted to reverse

It sounds like there is a total pressure loss. Are there any strange sounds when the engine is running?

No the engine sounds good I THOUGHT the same thing I even added more fluid, could there be some type of electrical switch or something, t just seems strange that it was alright when I parked and does not work now

Yes, it could deal with a trans control module, range sensor. But that should have turned the check engine light on. I also thought something may have happened with the linkage, but you said the back up lights are working. That is what is leading me to believe it may deal with the front pump or torque converter.
For curiosity sake, is the speedo moving when you place it in gear? Have you checked to make both front axles are attached?
