I replaced head gaskets I got it all back together, but one or more lifters are tapping. I replaced one bad lifter, what did I do wrong?

Maybe nothing was done wrong, but sometimes lifters will collapse when doing this type of repair. Try running transmission fluid in it for about 100 miles or so, then change oil and filter. It may cure it, if not you haven't lost much as far as a repair that way. It may have got some dirt in it as well from the repair.

One thing I forgot, you can try to readjust the lifters as well. If the head was resurfaced you might try shimming bolt to get to correct height.
