I had all my valve cover gaskets replaced. I am still having a link of oil on the rear valve cover gasket. Is it that my valve cover maybe warped? On the reason why I'm still having this leak. I understand the valve covers on my vehicle listed above are plastic. Or do you think I have a hairline crack in the head? I'm not having any symptoms of a cracked head. I only had the car for 3 weeks. Can you help?

Hi,

Certainly, either of the two things you mentioned can cause a leak. However, a leaking spark plug tower seal can cause it or if the cover was improperly torqued when it was reinstalled.

Did you replace the gasket? If so, did you use a gasket or gasket maker?

I know this is a bigger job. If you plan to replace the gasket again, you may want to consider replacing the plastic cover just in case it is cracked or warped.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Thanks for your response. I had all valve cover gaskets replaced. I didn't replace the valve cover. This is what I'm going to do next, but I don't have any signs of a cracked head. I only have 70,000 miles on the vehicle listed above. Sense I have no signs of a cracked head, can I rule that out?

Hi,

I feel very confident it isn't a head. In most cases, it is exactly what you suggested, a warped cover.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Take care,
Joe
