Any ideas on what type of steel, tensile strength, tempering, elongation of original flexplates? I'm leery of installing a used plate if I can have one waterjet cut using the used plate as a pattern. Thanks!

Hey DUDLEYMARKS,

I can't say I have the information regarding the specifics of Flex-plate for that vehicle. Getting one custom made or finding a manufacturer of OE quality would be the way to go i would say. A used unit will always be a gamble but direct fit. You wouldn't want to run into meshing issue or balance problem that could cause engine/starter damage.

Contacting the transmission manufacturer would be an option (Looks like it is a Mercedes/Daimler AG manufactured transmission)

After a search i found two sites that might be worth contacting with these questions also.

www.amtechinternational.com - Manufacturers of OE spec Flexplates
http://www.atiracing.com - Manufacturer of aftermarket Flexplates

They might have your answers or be able to point you in the right direction.

Let me know how you get on.

Many thanks, Joe
