Recently, I changed the upper and lower ball joints, the upper ball joint swings inboard and outboard, and it has a mat mark. So the question is, this is my first time working on suspension, are these two dots aligned?

Ball joints can go in any direction, so you are good to go. They swing 360 degrees, thanks for the images they help.

Thank you for the response, but this particular upper ball joint swings in two directions only inboard and outboard, but the lower moves 360 degrees.
So, the mat mark alignment with the dot on the control arm was my concern.

Do you recommend changing the ball joints on both sides?

Much appreciated Ken L.

No problem, okay I have seen those kinds of ball joints, I would do both sides for sure because if one is worn out the other is close behind. It looks like it is lined up pretty good. I would run it.
