Turn signal/multifunctional switch hazard problem---diagnose

I replaced the multifunctional turn signal switch and put everything back together, then reconnected the battery. When I turned the key over to check if it worked the hazards were blinking and I cannot get them to stop. I tried pulling the hazard button in and out to see if it was stuck and checked the fuse, that's okay. I ended up pulling the fuse to get the blinking to stop but my question is. How do I diagnose this problem? Where do I start and did I do something wrong when installing the multifunction switch. I put everything back where it goes except the keychime for when you turn the key it makes the buzzing noise. Anything helps.
