Trying to start on its own

Put a new battery in when hooking it up Car tried to start itself did some research people said to replace the ignition switch did that did not solve the problem I pulled the starter relay out and it stopped the problem when you have to post on the battery cable up and stop trying to crank could the starter relay be the problem I have no idea any suggestions would be very grateful

It may need a starter as solenoid may be sticking when you put relay in.
