I locked my keys in the trunk and tried to use my spare to unlock the trunk, but as I tried to open it how I normally would (turning the key clockwise), it would not turn. Assuming the spare was just not cut all that well I tried jiggling it a little, also did not work. I then made the mistake of turning it counterclockwise. Which turned without resistance, but is now stuck in that position, and will not turn. The spare was able to open the car door, and I tried the release latch on the left side of the drivers seat, and the trunk did not pop open. I had to put the backseat down and grab my original keys through the backseat. Now the original key won’t turn the trunk lock either, it is now stuck in the counter clockwise position. The latch inside the trunk itself was able to open it, but nothing else. The Key is unable to turn the stuck lock, and the release by the drivers seat does not work either. Did I break the lock cylinder? Should I buy a new one and replace it? Can I fix it at home?

Hi,

It sounds like the linkage on the latch assembly has broken or jammed. Does this have a valet key?

As far as the lock assembly, you will need to open the trunk to replace it. Are you able to reach the safety release in the trunk?

Let me know,

Joe
