It's been giving me issues trying to start sometimes when it has sat for long enough there is no issue, but if I try to start it after shutting it off with in an hour it will rev but then shut off. I don't know if this is filter or pump, but I do have to rev it when it tries to shut down and after that it stays started and runs fine.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Has the check engine light ever stayed on while the engine was running? If it has, you should scan the computer to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that can direct us.

Here is a quick video showing how it is done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but often times a parts store will do it for free or lend/rent the tool. So, if the light stays on while running, that is the first thing we need to check.

The next thing I suspect could be an issue is a dirty or faulty throttle actuator control (TAC). This component is responsible for maintaining the engine idle speed and has taken the place of the idle air control valve. - The TAC module is located within the throttle body assembly and to the best of my knowledge, not serviceable.

Have you checked simple things such as a partially plugged air filter or an engine vacuum leak?

Also, have you ever noticed any gray or black smoke from the exhaust when this happens?

Let me know.

I've tried having the engine scanned again but every store says that it won't connect because of a computer error. No, there hasn't been and smoke coming out when this problem occurs. I will take a look at the possibility of a clogged air filter or vacuum tube that will be where I start.

Welcome back:

Let me know what you find. And I'm curious why it won't connect with a scanner. Has anyone check the connector for power?

Let me know.
