Code P2196, bank 1 sensor 1 stuck rich?

My vehicle listed above T5 is throwing code p2196. The engine seems slightly noisier/rougher at idle than usual also (up under hood and not exhaust). Miles per gallon seems about the same. I have checked air filter and air intake, and they are fine. O2 sensors have never been replaced. Suggestions? Go ahead and replace the front O2 sensor? If so, how is the easiest way to get to it? I have looked down in back of engine and have not seen it yet. Gotta go under car? Thanks for any suggestions/info.

The error code P2196 for a 2006 Volvo V50 indicates "O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich (Bank 1 Sensor 1)." If the engine seems to be running okay, then I would swap out the oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Thanks for the info, Ken. Will be very helpful. I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, after looking at air intake again, I did find that the intake pipe was not connected together properly. I corrected that, cleared the code with my code reader, and went for a 25 mile test drive. The code did not yet reappear. Perhaps reduced air flow was causing overly rich fuel/air ratio and causing the code. I am going to drive the car some more and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

Yep, that can cause the code issue. The intake must have no leaks whatsoever. Please let me know if the codes stay clear.

Thanks again for your help. It appears pretty certain after 100 total miles of driving in three separate commutes, that the loose/improperly connected air intake was the issue and not the O2 sensor. No codes have appeared since I corrected the intake and MPG seems normal. If it should happen again, I’ll try to get back in touch, but I really think it is okay now. Thanks a bunch. You are appreciated.
