Will a transmission from a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT fit a 2006 Ford Explorer if they both have 4.0 L engines? Will the sensors and modules plug in? Will the wiring harness have the plugs to fit or do I have to make some changes? If so what do I have to do? Please help in any way possible.
Thanks,
Ken

Welcome to 2CarPros.

They are two different transmission. It won't work. The Explorer has a 5R55S transmission and the Ranger has a 5R55E. They are two different animals.

Not a problem. I have to be honest, when trying to switch models and years with today's vehicles, it never seems to work. I swear they change things by the hour. In this case, I would get the same year and model transmission. If you decide you want to rebuild the one you have, let me know.

Take care of yourself and let me know if I can help. If you do decide to replace the transmission, let me know and I can get all the directions for you.

Hi,

Absolutely, as long as it is the same model transmission. The XLT is a package the vehicle came with and doesn't affect the powertrain.

Let me know if I can help.
