Good evening.

Do you mean the shifter will not move up to park or down to a lower gear?

I cannot get it to go from first to park. I cannot understand it the shifting on inside works, but transmission is in low and will not go to park so I can start it.

Okay, there is a shift cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission. This cable can fail from debris inside the cable that prevents it from moving fully in your selection of gears. This needs to be confirmed by someone who is familiar with the workings of the cable.

If it I determined it I the cable it needs to be replaced. The cable is about eighty to ninety bucks and the labor is about fifty bucks.
