My car started having acceleration problems today on my way home from work, wouldn't go over 35 MPH even when flooring the gas pedal and had hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Check engine light came on after a few minutes of this, and the RPMs were between 3,000-5,000 (usually sticks around 2,500). Revving the car in neutral, it sounds completely fine.

The first thing we need to do is have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. If the check engine light came on, there should be codes stored.

Here is a quick video showing how it's done:

If there is a parts store near you and the vehicle is safe enough to drive there, they will usually scan it free of charge.

Also, make sure the transmission fluid is clean and full. If I recall, Chrysler used a CVT transmission on this vehicle. It isn't uncommon for them to act up or fail.

Let me know what you find.
