Car wont go into gear when running. Stalls if I try to force it into gear when running. I've adjusted shift linkage and bled the slave cylinder, but still no change. Car goes into gear easily when not running.

Hi,

What you described sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging. Did this happen all at once? Is there pressure on the clutch pedal when you press it?

If the transmission shifts easily when the engine is off, I suspect it is the clutch. Are you able to see if the slave is moving?

Let me know.

This started happening over about a weeks time. I still have good pedal pressure. It's a stage 1 clutch as well, if that matters. What would I look for, if I was checking to see if the slave cylinder was moving? I have direct access to it from above.

Thank you so much for your quick reply!

As far as the slave, since the moving parts are in the transmission and can't be seen, I would slightly loosen the slave and have a helper depress the clutch to see if it is moving outward when this is done. Don't remove it the entire way and do this.

Let me know. Also, when watching it, take notice if it seems like a lot of pressure is moving it or if it seems to just barely move at all.

Also, just to reflect on your original post, if the transmission shift easily with the engine off, chances are it deals with the clutch.
