Neutral safety switch on my truck listed above the switch itself is supposed to have a 3-wire plug. But the wiring harness on truck has a straight 6 wire plug. I just changed motor and transmission and I’m sure the reason for the difference is they aren’t the same year transmission. But what do I do with a 6 wire plug and a 3-wire neutral safety switch? The old transmission switch will not fit into the recent one. What is the fix to this? Every and all other wiring worked out but this. Need to know what is the fix please.

So is the replacement engine out of a newer truck? If so what year so I can look up the wiring diagrams for you. Here is the gear range sensor for your truck so you can see how the system works. Can you remove the old gear range sensor and install it into the new transmission? The gear range sensor looks pretty straight forward, it just grounds the PCM input. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.
