While driving check engine light turned on and cruise control stopped working

Merry Christmas to all. I was driving down the hwy in cruise control when my check engine light came on and cruise stopped working. Haven’t checked the light yet, however the cruise will not work and there is a noticeable difference in the power at take off in first gear. Any insight on the issue?

Hi,

Honestly, the idea that you lost cruise control can be the result of a few different things. There is a vacuum module, electronic cruise control module, and many other things which work in conjunction. I have even seen a wheel speed sensor cause it to stop working as well as a stuck brake light switch. Any of those will not cause a problem with power issue.

If possible, have the computer scanned so we can determine where the issue is coming from. Let me know what codes are found and I'll direct you in the right direction.
