2014 Escape 2.0L Ecoboost AWD started to shift hard from 2nd to 3rd gear periodically gear indicator flashes, has codes of P0706, and P0707, and recently a U0402. Recently would not move well but rpm's would go high. The transmission fluid was changed a couple of days ago and no metal filings found. It seems that I may have a faulty Transmission Range Sensor or poor contacts with wiring...
I cannot locate the TRS after seeking location of several websites. Nothing looks the same as the EOM part looks in the locations given.

So this happens when the transmission range sensor goes out, which is the most common, on the outside it can be a bad TCM but lets stick to the TRS fist.

P0706 - Transmission Range Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance
P0707 - Transmission Range Sensor “A” Circuit Low
U0402 - Invalid Data Received from TCM (Transmission Control Module)

The transmission range sensor is just inside the case of the transmission at the selector shaft. Clear the codes once the job is completed. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.
