I have a 1997 Toyota 4runner. Got it around 170,000 miles and it currently has 250,000 miles. I haven't changed the transmission fluid since I bought it. Is it too late?

Hello,

It is not too late to do a transmission drain and fill.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-service-an-automatic-transmission

This vehicle uses Dexron III automatic transmission fluid.
The capacity can vary depending on how much fluid comes out, as there will always be fluid left over in the cooler lines and converter.
The total capacity is 7.5-8 quarts.
The best course of action would be to drain the fluid in a container so that you can measure how much came out, so it will make it easier to know how much to fill it with.

I have attached the transmission fluid drain and fill procedure below.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
