I took my truck in for a oil and filter change and asked the dealer when and how much for a transmission fluid and filter change. He said never you don't need to on this transmission. I looked at him like he was crazy and said okay. Is this true?

Hello,

According to Ram the transmission fluid is "lifetime" fluid and does not need to be changed.
However the transmission manufacturer recommends changing the fluid every 60,000-80,000 miles depending on driving condition.
As you know any fluid that experiences hot and cold will have break down in the molecular level and will loose some of the lubricating property.
Most Ram owners that we have seen usually change the fluid around 60,000 miles.
Hope this was helpful for your to make the deciding of if/when to change the fluid.
