Transmission replacement for police interceptor model

My transmission went out. I have a police interceptor with the police package ends in CA. Can you explain why no other transmission will fit or will it work just not as fast? Please help. When I find one on line the VIN number says the transmission won’t work.

Good evening,

They have different controls and that is why it will not work. If you want it to work, you would need a complete harness for the engine and transmission and have the ECM programmed to the police package. It would be costly.

I would just replace it with the correct transmission.

Are there any numbers on the tag on the side of the transmission?

Also, check the driver's side of the transmission and let me know if there are 1 or 2 sped sensors on the transmission. This is not including the speed sensor on the tail shaft.

I attached the questions that need to answer for the correct transmission. There is only one option for non police. You need the code on the side of the transmission on the plate.
