I have the truck listed above with the 4l60e transmission. I'm looking to replace transmission but I've heard only 1993-1994 will work something to do with the torque converter. Is this true? Thanks

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, only 1993 and 1994 4L60E transmissions will work. The 1988-1992 were 700R4 transmissions were a completely different style and the 1995 4L60E is a 1 year only. The 4L60 was redesigned 1996 and later and is computer controlled differently with OBD2 being introduced. I've attached a few steps below describing how to remove and replace the transmission in your truck. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros. Happy New Year.

Could the transmission come from a 4.3 or only a 5.7 in 1993 to 1994? I found a transmission out of a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 4x4 ext cab, but the person said he does not know what engine it had since it was removed. Thanks.

Hello again.

Sorry but the bell housing is different between the two. You will need to find a V8 version 1993-1994 4x4 4L60E transmission for your truck to be compatible. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
