The truck listed above 1 ton with a 6.2 L diesel and a 4L80E automatic transmission. No reverse and no overdrive... Works in the other gears... My question is, if I replace the transmission what years of transmissions can I use?

I believe any 4L80E automatic that has the same electrical connector and pin count will work. Also, the torque converter must be changed out as well because the diesel converter is different than a gas model.

Here are two generic videos to help and how to swap out the transmission in your truck in the diagrams below:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

If I remove the transmission from my diesel and replace it with one from a gas motor, can I use the old torque converter in the new transmission?

I wouldn't because it can have metal inside from the bad transmission, I would try to find one from a diesel.
