Transmission not shifting properly

Drove to work on the home wasn't shifting. Got into town it still won't shift us the + &- to shift it. Got it home it reverse but put in drive and could only go a several feet then it wont go. Turn car off and started again it drove several feet and wont shift again but reversed. Is my transmission shot or it is it minor?

Hi and welcome to 2CarPros.

First, for your future knowledge. When any automatic transmission slips or wont shift, really any issues at all. Stop right where you are and check the fluid! Transmissions use the fluid to operate. If the fluid is low and you drive it anyway, even another mile to get somewhere you will burn up the transmission just because it was low on fluid!

Now, have you checked the fluid?

To check any automatic transmission fluid you need to let the car run until the engine is at operating temperature and then check the fluid. If you check it cold it will read low and you will add fluid and over filling is bad too!
