Just dropped the transmission pan found a round ball like looked like a golf tee has a seal on the big end.

Hi,

When the transmission is manufactured, they place a plug in the housing where the dipstick will be mounted. When the tube is installed, it pushes it into the pan and stays there until the pan is removed for service.

Take a look at the pic below and let me know if that looks like what you found.
