When attempting to pull out in the road, it sounds like the transmission is in the wrong gear?

After the vehicle warms up, if I stop somewhere (store) and then when I want to pull out in the road, it sounds like it is in the wrong gear. The fan gets loud, and the RPMs go way up. So, I let off and it comes back down and finally shifts to the right gear. I had the transmission replaced a few months ago by Ford Dealership and everything back then seemed fine. The temperature gauge is fine. Does it need more fluid or Service?

Hi,

If you are hearing the cooling fan getting louder, I have to ask. Does this only happen right after the vehicle has been driven, sits a short time, and then is restarted? Let me know.

Next, if the engine RPMs are getting too high, it may simply not be shifting when it should. If that is the case, you may want to contact the Ford dealership that repaired it a few months ago. Of course, you could do the basics such as checking the fluid level and condition. If you haven't done that, here is a link that explains how it is done:

Let me know.

Take care,

Yes, it seems to act up after driving, then turning off, then little bit later turn on to drive. It seems fine after about 5 minutes of moving. Thanks

Hi,

The idea that the fan is loud may be normal. It is affected by under-hood temperatures. If the vehicle sits after driving, it will fully engage to cool things off. They actually sound like a jet engine. Once it starts cooling, the noise will go away. Could that be what you are hearing?

Fan ramps up on take-off and RPMs go up higher than normal.

Hi,

That would make sense for the fan, but not the RPMs. Have you had a chance to check the transmission fluid condition and level? By chance, does the check engine light stay on while the engine is running?

Since this transmission is somewhat new, we need to make the repair facility of a potential issue before you run out of warranty.

Let me know.

No, it is under the vehicle, and I don't want to mess with it. I am going to take it to the dealer who installed the transmission. Thanks for your time!

Hi Kirk, you're very welcome, and I think that is a good idea. I can only imagine what it cost to have it repaired. They need to fix it for you.

If you can or if you have a chance, could you let me know what they find? I'm interested in knowing.

Take care,

Joe
