Whenever I put my truck in drive and I take off driving it wont shift from first gear when I am driving until seconds later. Exactly what is wrong with it?

Scan for codes, but it may be something like a bad clutch seal or clutches make sure fluid is full. Have a transmission professional take a look at it.
