I have to turn off the overdrive, also when switching to fourth gear, a rustling metallic noise is heard.

Hi,

Does it seem like the sound you are hearing is coming from under the truck? I ask because if the internal component in the catalytic converter is loose, it can make that type of noise, partially block the exhaust flow, and cause a power loss.

Take a look through this link and let me know if anything seems to mirror what you experience:

Let me know your thoughts on this. Also, there are other things such as a weak fuel pump or an air restriction. By chance, does the check engine light stay on when the engine is running? If so, have you had the computer scanned for codes?

Let me know.

Joe
