Warranty problem
1995 Toyota Tercel 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My mechanic replaced my front exhaust pipe 3 years ago at a cost of around $400.00 and this year it failed inspection for an exhaust leak. When I took it to him, he said it was the front pipe. Is this normal for that pipe to go so quickly? I just don't think I should have to pay full price for a new one since the old one lasted over 10 years and I have the receipt to prove it was replaced 3 years ago too!

Hi there,

now lets get this clear first, this is the engine pipe and not the exhaust manifold and does your engine pipe have the braided flex joint? And ids the leak here or just a gasket leaking/

He just said it was the front exhaust pipe that went all the way to the end that has gaskets and stuff in it. He didn't say anything about the engine at all.

I would ask him to qualify what he is saying, is the pipe the actual fault or is it just a gasket, there is a big difference.
