I had my Timing Belt go out on me my car has an interference engine there is some valve knocking and when my engine gets to temp and I let it idle it starts running ruff and there are some very small back fires do you think I bent my valves or do you think I need to adjust them

Did you replaced the belt without opening it up to inspect the valvetrain if not best check it and investigate closely sounds like you have problem in there. You can try adjusting the valve lash and see what happens.

If that knocking noise is still there break it open and check thoroughly.
