2003 Toyota Tacoma blower motor

The blower motor on my 03 Tacoma is not running. Not sure it is the motor or something else. Is there a resistor that would shut down the motor? One other bit of information that might be helpful. Before it stopped totally working it would stop but could be restarted by banging on the dash.

Test heater main relay, located on the left side of engine compartment. If OK, check blower motor by connecting positive lead from battery and negative lead from battery to terminal 1 (+) and 2 (-) of blower motor. If motor operates, suspect faulty resistor. If blower motor does not operate, replace motor.
