Hi
My name is Tin.I hear a clank sound when I step on the brake as the car going backward. Also that clank noise happen again as I step on the brake when the truck moving forward. It happens only after I shift the gears in reverse or forward.A friend said it possible caused by the U-JOINT. Need your advice please. Dealer ship suggested to drop the transmission and the rear differential for further investigation.

Ok I would first put the truck in neutral and block the wheels and check the u-joints see if they are loose. I would also check the carrier bearing (if it has one), if it has a carrier bearing then it will be on the driveline and it is a bearing with a rubber cushin and when this goes bad it will do that too. So check these first and then go from there.
