my tacoma has a 2.7 ltr. engine. my friend is going to install a timing chain kit. he said i would also have to buy a head gasket kit, and he would have to put it on too. is he correct?

yes because the first step in replacing the timing chains on this motor is to remove the cylinder head and once the head has been removed the cylinder head gasket will need replaced.
