Hi, I bought this 2001 Sienna XLE from apparently a cheater two days ago. He told me there are no problems, I made the decision in rush and didn't get it checked. Anyway, I have two questions;

1. There is lot of white smoke coming out of exhaust when we start the car and a friend of mine told me that it smells like burning coolant. Probably a bad gasket or cylinder seepage or something. Now I need to know how much would it cost me to get it fixed? What are the consequences of delaying it?

2. When I press the brake, it feels like you are pressing the pedal all the way but car is not stopping quickly, but if press it once, pull your feet back and then press again, it stops right there. I'm assuming it is kind of ABS brake that needs pedal pumping, just want to confirm whether it is normal?

1. White smoke-could mean a blown headgasket cracked head or block-. You're burning coolant in the combustion chamber it don't go there.

Get it block and pressure tested to find out where its coming from.

2. Brake problem-get the master cylinder checked out for internal leakage.

Thanks for such a quick response. But need little clarification. I see lot of white smoke for sure when I start the cold car. I'm not sure about the coolant burning that is just speculation. So you said white smoke is because of blown gasket and cracked head, how much do you think would it cost, and do I need to get if fixed right away?

If its not due to condensation-Get it block and pressure tested to rule out a blown headgasket, cracked head or block.
