2001 Toyota Sienna 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

We recently have noticed that when we accelerate there is a rattling noise coming from under the hood. At first we thought it was the serpintine belt making noise but when we opened the hood the noise appears to be from on top of the engine. The noise is getting frequent.

Noise from the top of the engine could be due to the valve clearances.

Check oil level and condition.

A loose timing belt would cause the nosie as well.

It is recommended to have the problem checked asap as it can be an expensive repair if oil pressure or timing belt are the cause.
