Does Alternator/Voltage Regulator Affect Radio Performance?

2005 Tundra 4.7 Crew Cab, 17k miles. If my alternator/voltage regulator was affected by a surge/spike and it wasn't putting out enough power, would it cause my radio to underperform, ie: doesn't have the powerful sound it once did. The alternator's readout was LOWER when revving at 2000rpm, than ay idling. Any advice would be appreciated. (This stated with a power surge through the cigarette lighter from a device I plugged in).

Before you start check the electrical system for a short circuit

Get the battery and alternator recheck by loading it. You probably fried something thru the ignition switch that the alternator is being affected.

The Cigarette lighter is it still working?
