1996 Toyota Pickup 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

I put the mtr on TDC # 1 piston up, timing marks on the cams aligned/ horizontal with the head surface like the manuel said. I put the timing chain on the intake cam sprocket dimple aligned with the paint mark on the chain. I then rolled the mtr over to have the crank keyway straight down, put the chain on with the paint mark aligned with the keyway.
is this correct? The Haynes manuel seems to be vauge at this point.
it seems like the mtr is not on tdc when I rolled it over to put the chain on the keyway.
what do I do next/

Hi bodaciuos,

There should be a dimple mark on the crankshaft sprocket and it is to be aligned with the chain painted mark.

After installation, slowly turn the crankshaft and if there is no restriction make 2 full turn and check crankshaft and camshaft position.

Take note of valve overlapping. Remove spark plugs for easier turning.
