I have a Hilux Surf year 1998 Used car in Japan.

There is a switch next to the handbrake lever.

I want to know what is the function of this switch? I do not have a user manual.

This is ECT switch. What is ECT stands for?
It says power when push, normal when it is not pressed.

Any idea?

Much appreciated your answer.

ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission.

The ECT switch changes the shifting pattern of the automatic transmission. The "power" setting shifts at higher rpm than the "normal" setting.
