Gas Tank and Possible Break Problem

I have a 1997 toyota camry that has driven in perfect condition the entire time i've had it. Recently, the check engine light has come on and we took it in and they said it's nothing to worry about. This is maybe a year later and the car makes light screeching noises off and on, it kind of seems like it has something to do with the breaks . Last night, I went to fill up at the gas station and I could audibly hear the gas going into the tank and it stopped after a few gallons. I tried to put more gas it in, and it stopped again, like the tank was full. It only too about a fourth of what it usually takes to fill up the tank. What could be wrong?
