Toyota Levin AC issues

Just recently, i've been having this issue with my car, from time to time if the car is running in idle and I turn on the AC it shuts off. It works fine if I turn off the AC. Also I realise the idle rev goes to about 1500rpm sometimes 2000rpm without the AC being on. Even if i'm driving and switch the AC on it kills the engine. Remember I said it doesnt happen all the time, so the times I doesnt kill the engine the AC works like a charm and the idle rev is just about 1000rpm so this kinda got me confused, your help urgently needed and appreciated as I love this baby. Its a 1994 corolla levin with the 4AGE silver top engine, automatic transmission, hope I gave enough info. Thanks

I would getting the idle control system checked, not sure if the A/c idle up works through this or like the Camry's it uses a VSV and a vacuum port added to the manifold, have this checked out.
