Land cruiser moter noise

I have a 1968 land cruiser with an f-145 motor when I try to start it it makes a loud screeching noise in the motor. It has a new alt. And the water pump seems tight could it be something internal or maybe something else I have'nt thought of. Also the sarter will only crank the moter slowly with a fully charged new batt.

Check to make sure that you don't have the alternator belt too tight which would cause the alterantors bearings to squeal. Also check all of you other accessories for the same. The belt should have around 1/2 inch of play in the longest open section of the belt.
