1991 Toyota Cressida low oil pressure

The cars oil pressure light would stay on after warmed up enough and at an idle, changed the oil to 15-40w and added lucas oil stabilizer, then tested the oil pressure with gauge and warmed it up, first started it went from 40psi @ idle and slightly creeping to 18psi and would rev to 3k 70psi then 65ish. Is it pump or bearings? After oil change light doesnt stay on (light on 5-7psi)

HI there,

I would be thinking that the pump performance is fairly good considering the miles on the engine, I would be more inc lined to be suspecting excessive bearing clearances as the oil thins out the pressure decreases but at revs the pump can compensate to some degree, I would be looking at using a 20W-50 mineral oil as this may help with the pressure.
