Loud noise when accelerate

I own a automatic toyota corolla 2002, 50,000 miles. It makes a loud noise when I accelerate when the gear is in drive, but sounds ok when I hit the gas pedal in neutral, or park. The exhaust pipes under the car looks good. Could this be an exhaust manifold leak?

Does the sound resemble a tablesaw cutting wood or something? I have the same problem in my 95 corolla that starts in 1st gear in stop and go traffic then diminishes after 3rd gear or so.
