My engine check light just came on but the only thing I can see that might be wrong is that I smell a little bit of fuel in the oil when I change the oil. What could be wrong? And my second question is sometimes when its warm it gose into a lower idle, (not quite dying but close) what could that be?

Hello !!

Your car its running "too rich" (to much gas)

and the check engine light come on to tell you that something its wrong..
first at all retrieve the "codes" from the ECM here is How:
